Cadmium (Cad) Plating

A similar plating to zinc. Cad plating provides a smoother surface with greater corrosion resistance than zinc. Cadmium, however, is a much more toxic metal than zinc making the plating process more costly and difficult. A supplemental wax coating is often applied for lubricant.
